My first born just turned 4 this week. I cannot believe she is so grown up already—it seems like yesterday she was a newborn! Her birthday was yesterday and we celebrated with a lunch date out with Grandma and PopPop for her favorite meal—pizza. Then we made a smoothie to make up for it.
We'll be having a small party with our extended family this weekend as well but we had to do something for her actual birthday. Dakota is BIG on special occasions lately so she was very excited for her special day. Besides her pizza lunch, she also got her favorite breakfast (oatmeal) and her favorite snack- a pink smoothie. Yep, it doesn't matter what's in said smoothie, as long as it ends up pink! This works out for me since I can get away with putting whatever I want in it.
This smoothie is not only pretty in pink, but chock full of nutrients for bodies, big and small. The almonds provide healthy fats that will keep you going for a couple hours.
Dakota's Pretty Pink Smoothie
1 cup carrots
1/4 cup almonds
2 cups frozen strawberries
1 orange, peeled
2 cups water
1 tbsp chia seed
2 tbsp hemp hearts
Combine all ingredients in a high speed blender.
Pour and serve!
It doesn't even need to be your birthday :)
