The Lowdown on USDA Guidelines

Remember that food pyramid you learned about in school?  I bet you never stopped to think about who decided that was the best way to eat.  I'm sure you wouldn't have thought that a bunch of politicians and lobbyists played a major role in what foods were recommended (mommy, what's a lobbyist?).  Regardless, it's probably played a roll in how you view food.

If you don't think so, think about all the things you see on a daily basis that are influenced by this one thing: ads, magazine articles, nutritional websites, food labels... the list goes on.  So even if you don't think about that pyramid (or its replacement, My Plate) when you choose what to eat, you've definitely been influenced by it, or as my husband would say, you've been "inceptioned."

Earlier this week my post on this very subject ran over at Modern Alternative Kitchen.  I was too busy trying to make up for doing absolutely nothing in preparation for Halloween that I forgot to tell you!!  It's just been that kind of week.

So if you're interested in learning more about where these USDA guidelines come from and why you should toss them out the window, go check out my post!  And since I hate to visit negative town, I've got 5 great tips on how you should eat to nourish your body.  I can also promise that no lobbyists affected these tips!!
